Like many things, it can be tempting to view authenticity as an either/or characteristic – we are either authentic or we are not. We either let what other people think of us dictate our behavior or we don’t. And like many things, the truth is much more nuanced. The vast majority of us fall somewhere in the middle – and it ca…n vary from one situation to the next.
When we view authenticity as a daily practice and as a characteristic we can choose to cultivate, it puts us in the driver’s seat. And it gives us permission to both fail and to try again.
